A few years ago two german girls found their second home in Bali. In 2017 Meike came for a six month break from her hectic 9 to 5 job. Since then she never left. In 2018 she met Theresa who kept coming back to indonesia since 2016.
In Bali they both discovered and explored their love for the ocean, the simple island-life and the Indonesian culture and its people. Living this independent and very active outdoor life the idea of MA’AKU was born.
We want to give back. To the planet and to the Indonesian people. Therefore sustainability and fair trade are very important to us when it comes to producing our ponchos.
We work exclusively with small local family businesses. Everything about our ponchos is handmade in Indonesia. From the hand-dyed fabrics to the smallest label. To avoid wast and reduce single-use plastic we produce accessories from our fabric left overs and ship your ponchos in paper packaging.
